“The Blessings of Unity”

April 22, 2024

Read Deuteronomy 6, Psalm 132-133, Acts 15

We live in a highly individualistic world today. We have moved from an identity of people groups to one that celebrates and highlights the individual more than ever before. Social media has probably been a big part of this move. The ability to create your individual profile and customize it to your liking feeds the fire.

David writes in Psalm 133:1, “How good and pleasant it is when brothers live together in unity!”

There are blessings from being united together as people, a family, a church, or another common bond. When there is no strife and everyone is getting along together it is a blessing. This is harder to do than we think. We must learn to swallow our pride and put others first. We must be willing to work within the personality imperfections of the group. We must remember to be gentle and patient with others often. Do we strive for unity in our relationships or do we have the attitude to just jump ship and exit the situation? What else do you see in these chapters? What words, phrases, or subjects stand out to you?
